November 20, 2013 In light of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda and the destruction it has wrought throughout the central region of the Philippines, Kapisanan Philippine Centre and Carlos Bulosan Theatre have teamed up to raise funds for the survivors. In addition to an online campaign via Canada Helps, a one-night event consisting of live music, raffle, silent auction and — everyone's favourite — food, will be held at The Great Hall on December 4th. 100% of collected funds will go to Global Medic.
CMANGO marketing + brand consultant ( and Carlos Bulosan Theatre board chair) Rina Espiritu, and I are both taking part in the effort. Rina is overseeing the programming for the Great Hall event and I have been producing the promo/ad design.
As devastating as the aftermath of the typhoon has been, the abundance of collective fundraising efforts coming together here in Toronto has been incredibly moving.
Head over to kapisanancentre.com in the coming days/weeks leading up to December 4th for more details.
*** To contribute to fundraising efforts, all proceeds from my Map of the Philippines prints, available at Kapisanan's Vinta Gallery, will go to towards #ProjectLiftPH.
