Art Metropole announces ART METRONOME, a new vinyl record label. Series one consists of five 7" vinyl releases featuring artists working in sound, with styles ranging from popular music such as hip-hop and electro-pop, to experimental/conceptual noise and sound art.
Each record is released in a numbered edition of 300, packaged in a jacket featuring the series design with exclusive artwork printed on the interior cover produced by or for the featured musicians. The series kicks off with pop aplomb with AM 001, featuring new material by Toronto-based bands TIMES NEUE ROMAN and KIDS ON TV.
Times Neue Roman asked me to produce the interior artwork for their single "Dear Lucille, Talk Soon Aiden," an 8-bit ballad in letter form. The artwork features TNR frontman, Robert Bolton's actual handwritten lyrics -- chopped, fragmented and reconstructed with layers of my own photography and illustration.
The release party is tomorrow, Wednesday June 30th at The Shop (Parts & Labour): 1566 Queen Street West. Tickets are available for $12 from Art Metropole, Soundscapes and Rotate This. The events starts at 9pm and will feature performances by Times Neue Roman, Kids on TV, DJ's Rory Them Finest, tuff luv, and Life of a Craphead. The records will be on sale at the event and will also be available for purchase at Art Metropole.
